Questions for THE ORGANIZATION staff based on Professor Bird’s outline of CA1:
- Can you give us a broad overview of the corporate culture here at the THE ORGANIZATION?
- What is the purpose of the THE ORGANIZATION, and does it have a mission statement?
- What are the explicitly stated values and norms that are preferred at the THE ORGANIZATION (espoused values)? These may have been established by the founders or by top management.
- How do the enacted values (those actually exhibited or converted into employee behavior) compare to the espoused values?
- We’re interested in the physical manifestation of the culture here. Can you tell us about THE ORGANIZATION acronyms, manner of dress, awards, myths and stories told about the organization, published lists of values, observable rituals and ceremonies, special parking spaces, decorations, visible behaviors exhibited by people and groups, and so on?
- To what extent does the THE ORGANIZATION exhibit: a clan culture; an adhocracy culture; a market culture; and a hierarchy culture? Pg. 67-68
- Is there any emphasis placed on sustainability?
- Is all this culture shared by everyone in the organization, or do different groups or departments perhaps place heavier emphases on other facets of office life?
