Dickens' Famous Line

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”(Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities, 1) This excerpt from a novel composed by the acclaimed Charles Dickens portrays the fact that even though it may be the worst of times in some places, it may very well be the best of times in others. This fact is true still today as we can tell by observing the environment around us. Today we see that in certain parts of the world that it is in fact, the best of times and the worst of times. There are wealthy people this day and age, and there are impoverished people this day and age. There are literate people this day and age, and there are illiterate people this day and age. In America, most of the population is happy with their country and society. In other countries, the citizens may not be happy with their country and society. There are so many things that can be said that illustrate how Dickens’ words in the first paragraph of, A Tale of Two Cities, are true still today in our world.
