China's One-Child Policy: My View 5 Years Ago
I strongly agree with the one child policy currently in effect in China. There are many reasons that I support this policy. First of all, China’s population is about one-fifth of the total world population. There are approximately 1.28 billion people in China, most of which are squeezed onto the eastern seaboard of the country. The living conditions in the country are horrendous and something needed to be done about it a long time ago. That is why the one child policy is currently in effect in China; the government is communist and they can do whatever they want to in their country. By putting this policy in effect, the government has attempted to lower the population. Some people think that this is inhumane and shouldn’t be aloud, but those criticizers must see that unless China’s population is greatly reduced, the entire country will live in mass poverty forever, until some natural disaster or a war breaks out, killing many of the Chinese people. Being a communist government, the government has every right to enact this policy, and I believe that it was a good move on their part.
