Do Animals Make Music?
The real dilemma in facing the question of whether or not animals make music is encountered when a determination between actual music and what is perceived by humans is music is addressed. Animals make noises to communicate with other animals. In the same way and for the same purpose, humans produce noise as well. Human beings sometimes make music, however when they do create music, it almost always carries a message or a point. Animals communicate similar messages and points, thus there is no boundary that prevents them from ultimately producing music as well. I would define music as a series of sounds produced that contains a rhythm. When animals tweet or whistle, they do in fact produce music. In the case of rap artists, the music lies in the back beat, while the vocalist usually has a conversation with his or her audience. Animals that sound with rhythm do in fact produce music.
