Not Without My Daughter
I would not have gone to Iran. Going to Iran was the biggest mistake of Betty’s life. I wouldn’t have gone because of the way that Moody has run his life. He has been chased out of one too many communities because of his beliefs. He received threats from people in the book, and was criticized for his way of thinking and acting. He should have followed through with his application on becoming an American citizen. After all, he did put down on his application that he would fight for America if he was ever called on to do so. I believe that Moody was right in his decision to come to America in the fist place, but he should never have come if he was just going to exercise his religion in society as it said he did in the book. He should have just put all of that behind him. I think it’s alright for someone to practice his religion in the privacy of his own home, and for him to attend a mosque or synagogue, but I don’t think that it was necessary for Moody to write that publication about his religion. By doing that, he was going just a little overboard. By just listing all of this, I would have expected nothing less for him to trap Betty in Iran. In conclusion; I would not have gone to Iran.
